Many residents have shared with us their concerns on the bird nuisance at Yishun. These birds are migratory barn swallows that visit Singapore every year.
They have appeared in Chong Pang and Nee Soon South area before. We have adopted our previous method of using oil tins tied onto trees to create noise to scare away the swallows but were unsuccessful this time around.
We have pruned the trees around the area to deter roosting of these migratory birds and have also stepped up our cleaning efforts as well as sprayed disinfectant at the common area to get rid of the dropping stains, smell and bacteria. We will monitor the situation closely.
We will continue to work closely with the Agri-Food & Veterinary Authority of Singapore (AVA) to manage this bird nuisance problem and minimise any inconvenience to the residents.
Any suggestions are welcomed.
